NEW DELHI – Prices of mill-quality wheat rose today in key markets across the country as demand increased, while those of maize were steady in the wholesale markets of Davanagere and Purnea, traders said.
Prices of mill-quality WHEAT rose today in Kota, Rajasthan. Wheat was sold at 2,070-2,120 rupees per 100 kg, up 10 rupees from Tuesday, said Aniket Mehta, a local trader. Arrivals were pegged at 60,000 bags, up 10,000 bags from Tuesday.
In key markets of Indore in Madhya Pradesh, wheat prices ranged from 2,350 rupees per 100 kg to 2,375 rupees, up 100 rupees from Tuesday, said Lavish Shah, a local trader. Arrivals of the grain were pegged at 3,500 bags, up 300 bags from the previous day of trade.
The government has estimated wheat production in 2022-23 (Jul-Jun) at a record 112.2 mln tn, 4.2% above the output of 107.7 mln tn in the previous crop year.
Prices of MAIZE remained steady today in Davanagere, Karnataka at 1,650-2,050 rupees per 100 kg, said Shiva Kumar, a local trader.
Arrivals of the grain were pegged at 1,000 bags, down 2,000 bags from the previous day of trade.
In Purnea, Bihar, maize prices were steady at 1,750-1,820 rupees per 100 kg and arrivals stayed at 6,000 bags, said Kanhaiya Rastogi, a local trader.
