The Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) releases the Natural Rubber Trends & Statistics, March 2018.
From Secretary-General’s Desk
The global demand of natural rubber (NR) grew 7.6% from 3.123 million tonnes during Q1 2017 to 3.361 million tonnes during Q1 2018. During the same reference period, global supply of NR posted a 3.3% growth at 3.152 million tonnes on a year-to-year basis. Such favourable supply-demand fundamental did not reflect in the rubber prices movement in physical market nor futures market. This may result from the uncertain outlook over trade tension between China and US, worries of rising inventories in the futures market and a strong yen.
With the objective of providing updated trends and emerging developments in natural rubber sector, ANRPC provides through this issue of Natural Rubber Trends and Statistics, the figures of supply and demand for NR during the period up to March 2018 and the anticipated annual figures for the year 2018, covering all ANRPC Member Countries.
Before I conclude, I place on record sincere gratitude of the ANRPC to its statistical correspondents in Member Governments for timely making available required data and forecasts. I also thank all esteemed subscribers of the publication for the continued support.
