MUMBAI – Prices of mill-quality wheat rose today in the benchmark market of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, due to low supply, said traders. Maize prices were flat in the key market of Davanagere, Karnataka, they said.
WHEAT prices in Indore were up 25 rupees at 2,500-2,550 per 100 kg from the previous day, on low supply, with arrivals falling slightly to 2,000 bags (1 bag = 60 kg), said local trader Jitendra Panwar.
However, traders said prices will be under pressure, following the arrival of new wheat crops in February.
Prices of MAIZE were flat in Davanagere at 2,000-2,250 rupees per 100 kg, amid low stocks of the foodgrain, said local trader Shiva Kumar. Arrivals fell by 700 bags to 2,500 bags (1 bag = 60 kg), said Kumar.
The daily average consumer wholesale price of RICE was up 4.94 rupees at 3,810.70 rupees per 100 kg, according to the consumer affairs department.
