MUMBAI – Prices of mill-quality wheat in the wholesale markets of Kota, Rajasthan, were unchanged today, said a trader. Maize prices in Purnea, Bihar, rose today due to firm demand, a local trader said.
In Kota, prices of WHEAT remained steady at 2,550-2,600 rupees per 100 kg. Arrivals were at 3,000 bags, down by 1,000 bags from the previous day, said Aniket Mehta, a local trader.
Arrivals are likely to increase in the coming days as the temperature is slightly warmer in the region. Although arrivals will increase, prices may not fall as the demand is firm, Mehta added.
MAIZE prices in Davanagere were unchanged at 2,350 rupees per 100 kg. Arrivals were at 1,000 bags, up by 500 bags from the previous day, said Shiva Kumar, a local trader.
Prices may remain unaffected even if there is minimal fluctuation in arrivals, Kumar said.
In the markets of Purnea, prices of maize rose by 20–25 rupees to 2,370-2,475 rupees per 100 kg. Arrivals remained unchanged at 1,000 bags, said Kanhaiya Rastogi, a local trader.
Prices rose as there was firm demand from new companies and the maize procurement for production of ethanol also rose, Rastogi added.
