Vince Vaughn shook the president’s hand at the LSU-Clemson game, and we’re being told the left is freaking out

Vince Vaughn just crashed the internet.

The actor met in a luxury box at the Superdome in New Orleans on Monday, and the two appeared to exchange amicable words. The “Wedding Crashers” star had the gall to shake the ’s hand, as people do, right there at the college football title game, for all to see.

A video clip of the interaction racked up almost 5 million views after a former Deadspin employee tweeted it out:

I’m very sorry to have to share this video with you. All of it, every part of it.

Fox News ran the headline “Vince Vaughn faces liberal outrage after he was seen with Trump during national championship game” and had spokesperson Hogan Gidley on to talk about how “ seem to be more upset at this exchange than they do at Americans citizens”:

Hogan Gidley says LSU-Clemson’s cheers for Trump were the most incredible cheers he’s ever heard, “a unifying moment” ruined by Democrats being madder at Vince Vaughn than Qassem Soleimani, an absolutely ridiculous non sequitur that isn’t even true. Ainsley says “good point.”

This focus on Vaughn, a libertarian who backed Rand Paul in the 2016 race for the White House, soon topped ’s

list of trending topics. There were, indeed, some people feeling the “cancel culture”:

Sad. Vince Vaughn is one of my favorites. I always knew he was Republican but this, so gross.

I don’t need a Wedding Crashers sequal anymore.

Vince Vaughn, Baio, Ted Nugent, Kid Rock, Loaf, Kristy Swanson

Including one approaching the matter from a grammatical perspective:

Vince Vaughn isn’t cancelled.

He’s canceled.

But, on balance, this seemed to be more an overreaction from the right, seizing on an opportunity to call out the left for being “triggered,” than genuine upset among left-leaning movie fans:

Liberals attacking Vince Vaughn like…

In the end, this, basically:

The whole Vince Vaughn mess is simply those on the right trying to claim Liberals are crazy for attacking him, when most of us aren’t even attacking him.

I can’t stand Trump. Vaughn has every right to talk to him.

Don’t give Fox News a narrative!
