KOTTAYAM, DEC.11:
 A mixed trend prevailed in spot rubber on Wednesday. The market is showing signs of a partial recovery and we expect prices to firm up further on some buying and short-covering, a trader said.
Growers are expected not to sell the produce as they usually hold their stocks during December and January if the prices rule low.
Hence, a sharp increase in arrivals could be ruled out and according to reports, the production is also low in certain plantations.
Sheet rubber closed unchanged at Rs 151.50 a kg, as reported by traders. The grade finished steady at Rs 151 and Rs 148 respectively, according to the Rubber Board and dealers.
December futures weakened to Rs 152.40 (Rs 152.84), January to Rs 154.40 (Rs 154.76) and February to Rs 157.71 (Rs 157.43) on the National Multi Commodity Exchange.
RSS 3 (spot) slid to Rs 157.47 (Rs 157.77) at Bangkok. December futures closed at ¥ 274.5 (Rs 164.13) on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange.
Spot rubber rates (Rs/kg) were: RSS-4: 151.50 (151.50); RSS-5: 142.50 (142); Ungraded: 138.50 (138.50); ISNR 20: 143.50 (143.50) and Latex 60%: 109 (108).
