Malaysia: Rubber end higher lifted by good news (June 17)

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian rubber market closed marginally higher yesterday, lifted by positive external news.

United States manufacturing output data rose last month and factory activities in New York accelerated sharply this month, buoying hopes of a strong rebound.

The Malaysian Rubber Board’s official physical price for tyre-grade SMR 20 shed two sen to 536.5 sen a kg but latex-in-bulk added half-a-sen to 461 sen a kg.

The unofficial closing price for tyre-grade SMR 20 gained half-a-sen to 537 sen a kg while latex-in-bulk rose one sen a kg.
