J&L adds new press, capacity

J&L Plastic Molding LLC, a mold maker and injection molder, is boosting its capacity and adding more precision production with the addition of a 100 ton Arburg all-electric molding machine in Wallingford, Conn.

The company added an Allrounder 470E electric machine that it said will provide maximum reproducibility and part quality. It also estimated that it would reduce energy consumption by 25 to 50 percent over the machine it replaced.

Jason Rossicone, J&L vice president, said the machine supports both its tooling and molding operations.

“Our customers demand components processed in highly engineered materials capable of performing in demanding environments. Our machine purchase furthers our efforts to develop and supply parts capable of meeting required specifications,” Rossicone said.

The company operates 28 injection molding machines, ranging from 28 to 385 tons. It has two buildings across from each other.

Marty Kellaher, director of sales and marketing, said that over the last few years it has been adding machinery to manage its workload and currently has 12 all-electric machines.

He said that J&L has been growing in recent years as it works with companies through the design and prototyping phases to reach production.

J&L is certified to ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 standards. The company does a lot of medical device work, but also serves the aerospace and electronics industries. It was founded in 1972.
