NEW DELHI – Wheat prices fell in Kota on muted demand from millers and bulk buyers, while those of maize were flat across major markets, traders said.

* Prices of mill-quality WHEAT fell today in Kota, Rajasthan, due to weak demand from bulk buyers amid an increase in arrivals, said Chander Khandelwal, a local trader.

* Arrivals were pegged at 15,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up 7,000 bags from the previous trading day.

* Prices of mill-quality wheat in Indore, Madhya Pradesh were unavailable as the key wholesale markets were shut today on account of panchayat elections, traders said. Markets in Indore will resume trade from Monday

* Prices of MAIZE were unchanged in Purnea, Bihar, due to sluggish demand from millers amid a decline in supply, said Kanhaiya Rastogi, a local dealer.

* Arrivals were pegged at 52,500 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), compared with 60,000 bags from Thursday.

* Prices of maize were also flat in Davanagere, a major market in Karnataka. Arrivals were pegged steady at 1,000 bags, said Shiva Kumar, a local trader.

* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
