India Grain: Davanagere maize up on good demand; basmati prices fall

NEW DELHI – Prices of maize rose in Davanagere, Karnataka, today on the back of high demand from poultry feed manufacturers, while those of Pusa 1121 basmati rice fell in the benchmark markets across the country, traders said.


* Prices of MAIZE rose in Davanagere due to good demand from the poultry sector, local trader Shiva Kumar said.


* Arrivals were steady at 1,000 bags, unchanged from Thursday, Kumar said.


* Prices of maize were flat in Purnea, Bihar, due to steady demand as well as arrivals, local trader Kanhaiya Rastogi said.


* Arrivals were estimated at 15,625 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), unchanged from the previous day.

* Prices of mill-quality WHEAT were steady in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, local trader N.K. Agarwal said.

* Demand picked up from millers, while arrivals were pegged at 8,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up 1,000 bags from Thursday. 


* Prices of mill-quality wheat in Kota, Rajasthan, were unchanged today due to strong demand from millers amid high supply, a trader, Aniket Mehta said.


* Arrivals were pegged at 15,000 bags, up 5,000 bags from Monday, as trade resumed today after a three-day holiday.

* Prices of BASMATI 1121 RICE fell today because of weak demand from bulk buyers, traders said.
