Continental Tyres has pledged its support for A Peace for Nature, the environmental charity behind the Ogmore River Clean Project, a large-scale community led initiative to remove thousands of end of life tyres from Ogmore River and Estuary in South Wales.
Taking place from Monday 5th May, the five-day clean up aims to protect aquatic habitats and wildlife, and preserve the natural landscape for future generations.
Continental Tyres has sponsored the project with a £5,000 donation to fund specialised water pumps and other essential equipment designed to clean the recovered tyres before they are recycled, a crucial step in ensuring they can be safely processed and reused, contributing to a more sustainable and circular approach to tyre waste management.
In addition, a portion of recycled tyres will be processed into rubber crumb for use in local parks as safety surfacing, ensuring a return to the community in a positive, sustainable and practical form.
A Peace for Nature works to restore natural ecosystems in Wales. The charity unites local residents, environmental organisations, and responsible businesses to address pollution and safeguard biodiversity.
