The Goodyear Blimp will also take to the skies above the Belgian track as part of the celebration of its 100th anniversary
In celebration of the Goodyear Blimp’s 100th anniversary, Goodyear has announced the introduction of a special blimp-themed tire sidewall design. This unique tyre will make its European debut at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit during the third round of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) on 10 May.
All LMGT3 cars, exclusively supplied by Goodyear, will feature this special tyre sidewall design.
The blimp-themed tyres were first unveiled on NASCAR stock cars during NASCAR’s Official Throwback Weekend at Darlington Raceway in February, paying tribute to Goodyear’s first branded blimp, ‘Pilgrim’, which took flight in 1925. The centenary design includes a historic image of the blimp and a celebratory banner.
The iconic Goodyear Blimp will also visit Spa-Francorchamps this weekend as part of its 100th anniversary tour, and can be tracked at www.flightradar24.com with the registration number D-LZFN.
