The Banner GB team recently marked a memorable occasion at their Staffordshire-based operation, as they welcomed a special visitor – Andreas Bawart, CEO of family-owned Banner – The Power Company. His visit to the UK formed the final stop of his international farewell tour ahead of his retirement.
After more than three decades of dedicated leadership alongside his cousin Thomas Bawart, Andreas will be stepping back from day-to-day operations. However, both cousins will remain closely connected to the company as ongoing shareholders and owners, continuing their proud family legacy.
During his visit to Banner’s UK head office and warehouse, Andreas was warmly welcomed by the GB team. In true British style, the celebrations included a traditional dinner at a local English pub, featuring regional beers and freshly sourced local produce. To mark the occasion, Country Manager, Lee Quinney, presented Andreas with a silver hip flask engraved with a personal retirement message from the team.
The farewell celebrations continued the next day in London with a visit to the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground – the Home of Cricket. There, Andres was joined by Richard Shortis, Managing Director of fellow family-owned business The Shortis Group, for a day of quintessential British sport. Over Pimm’s, beers, and lunch at the historic Lord’s Tavern, the group took in a T20 Vitality Blast match between Middlesex and the Kent Spitfires. Despite a typically British soggy ending, the day was made even more special as Richard presented Andreas with a selection of Lord’s memorabilia as a keepsake of the visit.
Reflecting on the occasion, Lee Quinney commented:
“Over the last ten years of my stewardship of Banner in the UK, Andreas has been a constant source of support to both the team and our business development journey. His leadership legacy, spanning over three decades, has shaped Banner into the company it is today. On behalf of the entire GB team and everyone associated with Banner, we wish Andreas a long, healthy, and fulfilling retirement.”
