Over 30 degrees celsius, not a drop of rain: you normally have to look for “beach weather” like this with a magnifying glass in the history of the Nürburgring 24-hour race. But on June 21-22, the weather struck like a burning glass – and presented teams and equipment with extraordinary challenges. In addition to electronic components, the tyres were particularly challenged. At these air temperatures, the asphalt heats up to 50 degrees during the day. At night, however, the temperatures drop rapidly – an extreme endurance test for any tyre technology.
TOYO TIRES was able to withstand this stress test with ease: The rubber compound developed in advance proved its worth in all conditions and delivered consistently strong performance over the entire race distance. This is clear evidence of the technical expertise that also goes into the development of the road tyres. The best of the four vehicles entered was the Toyota Supra #520 in the VT2-RWD class, driven by Malte Tack and Manfred and Matthias Röss.
Current tyre tests show that the commitment on the race track pays off: the PROXES Sport 2 impressed the ADAC, ÖAMTC and TCS in the spring with ratings ranging from “good” to “highly recommended”. The PROXES Comfort also secured another “good” rating in the Auto Bild sports tyre test.
