TOKYO: Tokyo stocks jumped 0.99 percent Tuesday, with Toyota closing just shy of an all-time high, as the market tracked a surge on Wall Street driven by weak US data that tempered talk of an early Federal Reserve rate hike.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange advanced 190.94 points to end at 19,437.00, a fresh 15-year high, while the Topix index of all first-section shares climbed 0.79 percent, or 12.29 points, to 1,570.50.
