TOKYO: Tokyo stocks dropped 1.39 percent on Thursday, hit by a stronger yen and sharp losses on Wall Street that were fuelled by weak US data.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Stock Exchange lost 275.08 points to close at 19,471.12, while the Topix index of all first-section issues was down 1.46 percent, or 23.19 points, at 1,568.82.
