Autoweek BBF Breathe Owl Breathe climbs back in the van for another tour
Autoweek’s official band best friend (BBF), Breathe Owl Breathe, has headed out on the lonely road once again, this time in a large and lovely Nissan NV3500 High Roof. This leg of their sojourn will see the gang playing shows in venues big and small from Michigan to the magnificent Northwest — even flying up Alaska way for a few gigs (minus the Nissan, unfortunately).
Micah Middaugh, Andréa Moreno-Beals and Trevor Hobbs made the most of the cavernous maw that is the NV’s cargo hold, stuffing it with every instrument the quirky trio needs to create their atmospheric and uber-addictive music: drums, guitars, cellos and banjos and, quite possibly, a theremin or two.
Keep an eye on this space over the next month to follow along on their tour, but don’t expect us to let you know how things are going — with their shows or with the newest member of the entourage, the Nissan NV. We’ll let the band keep you apprised.
Breathe Owl Breathe headlining at Bell’s Brewery
Days 1 & 2
“The van is packed. We are ready to start. The van is so spacious, we even rigged up a quiet space to relax and unwind; all that’s missing is a reading lamp.
“Our first show of the tour was Friday night at Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo. Friends gathered from near and far to fill the room and give us reason to be merry. What a sonic treat it is to play that room! And fantastic for listening to your new favorite band … in this case, we were awed by The Chordelias (the opening act). It was their first show ever, though they sounded professional and well seasoned. Thanks for a wonderful tour kick-off, Kalamazoo!”
Micah takes some alone time in the back of the Nissan NV.
“Headed to Chicago to play a live in-studio session at Audiotree. It’s nice to have a new set of tires and tight windshield wipers. We drove through one of the darkest storms of the season. Four-hundred-forty-eight million gallons of water fell from the sky and pounded the resonant rooftop of our Nissan van. Quarter-size hail — no big deal! It was cause for a round of singing. A ship cast away out to sea. Shifting slowly back and forth. With emergency lights flashing. We made it through to sunny skies over Chicago, landed at the curb of Audiotree just in time, set up and had a great time in the studio. You can download the session once it is posted at Audiotree.
