MUMBAI – Prices of mill-quality wheat remained steady in Kota today as the market awaited fresh cues, said traders. Maize prices were unavailable for the second consecutive day.
Wheat prices have been flat in the last few days due to lack of triggers, according to local traders.
Last week, Food Corp of India had announced that it would sell around 429,000 tn of WHEAT in open markets across regions in its third e-auction on Wednesday. It would also release nearly 395,000 tn of rice in open markets, according to a release from the Department of Food and Public Distribution. However, the government has not yet released any details of the auction held on Wednesday.
The government had said wheat would be auctioned from 482 depots and rice from 254 depots of Food Corp of India.
The reserve price of fair and average quality wheat was set at 2,150 rupees per 100 kg, and that under reduced specification quality of wheat at 2,125 rupees per 100 kg.
Today, in Kota, wheat was sold at 2,150-2,200 rupees per 100 kg, steady from the last trading day, said Mehta. Arrivals were pegged at 10,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), steady from the previous trading day.
