ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) _ Con-way Inc. (CNW) on Wednesday reported second-quarter profit of $ 44 million.
On a per-share basis, the Ann Arbor, Michigan-based company said it had net income of 76 cents.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 80 cents per share.
The trucking company posted revenue of $ 1.43 billion in the period, which also fell short of Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $ 1.5 billion.
Con-way shares have decreased 21 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $ 38.75, a decrease of 19 percent in the last 12 months.
