SHANGHAI: Shanghai shares closed down 2.20 percent on a late spurt of selling Thursday, after rallying more than three percent a day earlier, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index retreated 83.40 points to 3,705.77 on turnover of 616.0 billion ($ 100.7 billion).
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, sank 3.21 percent, or 70.65 points, to 2,128.16 on turnover of 540.7 billion yuan.
