NEW DELHI – Prices of wheat in the benchmark markets of Kota, Rajasthan, were unavailable today, traders said.
Prices of WHEAT in Kota were unavailable today as markets were shut, said Aniket Mehta, a local trader. On Friday, wheat was sold at 2,325 rupees per 100 kg in Kota, and arrivals were pegged at 7,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg).
Prices of wheat in Delhi fell by 20 rupees today to 2,500-2,510 rupees per 100 kg, according to a poll by Cogencis.
The US Department of Agriculture has scaled down its estimate for global wheat consumption in 2023-24 by 3.4 mln tn to 796.1 mln tn in August from 799.5 mln tn projected last month. The agency also projected global production of wheat in 2023-24 at 793.37 mln tn, lower than 796.67 mln tn estimated in July.
The US agency has retained India’s wheat production and consumption estimates at 113.5 mln tn and 108.1 mln tn, respectively.
Wheat stocks registered an increase of 5.2% on year, but were down 7% on month at 28.0 mln tn as on Aug 1, according to data from Food Corp of India. Rice stocks in godowns operated by FCI fell 13% on year to 24.3 mln tn. On a monthly basis, rice stocks fell 4%.
MAIZE prices in Davanagere were unavailable as there were no arrivals of the crop in the mandi, said Shiva Kumar, a local trader.
