TOKYO: Tokyo stocks closed 0.42 percent lower Tuesday, hit by profit-taking and as a move by China’s central bank to devalue its yuan currency aggravated worries about the world’s number two economy.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed 87.94 points down at 20,720.75, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares lost 0.22 percent, or 3.69 points, to 1,687.60.
