SHANGHAI: Shanghai stocks closed up 0.27 percent on Friday, but gave up earlier gains, after China set a stronger value for its currency against the US dollar following three days of falls, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged up 10.78 points to 3,965.34 on turnover of 647.5 billion yuan ($ 101.2 billion).
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, rose 0.51 percent, or 11.61 points, to 2,310.40 on turnover of 574.0 billion yuan.
