MUMBAI – Prices of wheat were flat today in Indore and Kota, market participants said. Maize prices in Purnea were also flat. Prices of maize in Davanagere were unavailable.
In Kota, Rajasthan, prices of mill-quality WHEAT were unchanged from Wednesday at 2,400-2,450 rupees per 100 kg, Aniket Mehta, a local trader, said. Arrivals were at 7,000-8,000 bags (1 bag = 60 kg), Mehta said.
In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, too, wheat prices were unchanged from Wednesday at 2,520 rupees per 100 kg, local trader Lavish Shah said.
The markets in Kota and Indore were shut on Thursday for Eid-e-Milad.
MAIZE prices in Purnea were flat at 2,050-2,100 rupees per 100 kg from Thursday, local trader Kanhaiya Rastogi said. Arrivals were at 5,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), he said.
As of Friday, maize acreage in India was 8.5 mln ha, up 3.2% from 8.2 mln ha in the corresponding period last year.
