HOUSTON, Aug 26 (Reuters) – BP Plc’s main 240,000 barrel per day (bpd) crude distillation unit at its Whiting, Indiana, refinery reached production levels over 200,000 bpd, or 80 percent of capacity, a day after restarting from a two-and-a-half week shutdown, a source familiar with plant operations said on Wednesday.
A BP spokesman declined to discuss operations at the 413,500-bpd Whiting refinery.
Whiting is the largest refinery in the U.S (Other OTC: UBGXF – news) . Midwest and the Aug. 8 outage to repair leaks in the large CDU’s heat exchanger reduced production to 40 percent of the refinery’s capacity, roiling U.S. oil and gasoline markets.
