MUMBAI – Prices of maize were nearly unchanged today across key markets, and those of mill-quality wheat were also steady in Rajasthan, traders said.
In Davanagere, Karnataka, MAIZE prices were up 80 rupees at 2,000-2,380 rupees per 100 kg from the previous day, said Shiva Kumar, a local trader. Arrivals also rose by 2,000 bags to 5,000 bags (1 bag = 60 kg), he said.
“The weather is favourable because of which supply increased and a change in price by 100 rupees on either side is usual,” Kumar said. He expects the price to stay nearly unchanged for the next 10 days.
In Kota, Rajasthan, maize prices were steady at 2,100 rupees per 100 kg from Tuesday, with arrivals flat at 7,000-8,000 bags, Aniket Mehta, a local trader, said.
In Purnea, Bihar, prices of maize were unchanged at 2,400 rupees per 100 kg, Kanhaiya Rastogi, a local trader, said. Arrivals were also flat at 7,500 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), he said.
Rastogi expects prices to remain in the current range as they are already very high.
WHEAT prices in Kota, Rajasthan, were also flat at 2,500 rupees per 100 kg with a rise in arrivals by 6,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg) to 8,000 bags, Mehta said.
Arrivals increased due to pleasant weather after it rained on Tuesday, Mehta said.
Wheat prices from Indore, Madhya Pradesh were unavailable today.
