The Finance Ministry has imposed definitive anti-dumping duty on acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) imports from South Korea.
NBR-which is also known as nitrile rubber– is widely used in defence, automobile, footwear, fabrics, printers, oil field products industries.
It is primarily used where oil resistance, abrasion resistance and heat resistance applications are resolved. NBR is mostly used by the non-tyre sector although it finds very small application in tyre sector also.
Omnova Solutions (India) Pvt Ltd had filed the petition seeking sunset review investigations on NBR imports from South Korea.
Based on the recommendations of the designated authority in the commerce ministry, the revenue department has imposed anti-dumping duty of $ 57 per tonne for NBR exported by Kumho Petrochemcials, $ 61 per tonne in case of LG Chemicals and $ 85 per tonne in case of all other exporters of NBR from South Korea.
