HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks surged almost three percent in the morning session Wednesday and Shanghai also rallied, in line with a global advance with hopes that the recent turmoil to ravage world markets may be nearing its end.
In Hong Kong the Hang Seng Index added 2.97 percent, or 630.50 points to 21,889.54.
Shanghai’s composite index climbed 1.69 percent, or 53.67 points, to 3,224.12.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, put on 2.70 percent, or 46.97 points, to 1,788.51.
