MUMBAI – Prices of mill-quality wheat and maize rose today in the wholesale markets of Kota, Rajasthan, and Davanagere, Karnataka, respectively. Meanwhile, the price of rice remained steady at the markets in Vijaywada, said traders.
Prices of MAIZE in the markets of Davanagere, Karnataka, rose today by 50 rupees to 2,200-2,350 rupees per 100 kg, said Shiva Kumar, a local maize trader. Arrivals were at 3,000 bags, up 2,000 bags from the previous day, he said.
Prices rose today as demand was firm, said Kumar. Currently, the demand for maize in Karnataka is more from the poultry industry than ethanol plants, he added. Arrivals, he said, are likely to rise or fall by 500 bags in the coming days.
WHEAT prices in Kota, Rajasthan, were at 2,370-2,400 rupees per 100 kg, up 20 rupees from the previous day, said Aniket Mehta, a local trader. Arrivals were at 3,000 bags (1 bag = 60 kg), up 2,000 bags from the previous day, he said.
The price of the Sona Masoori variety RICE in Bhavanipuram, Vijayawada, remained steady at 6,000 rupees per 100 kg even today, said Ravi Shankar, a local trader. Demand for rice is subdued at the moment and the price may remain unchanged for the next one month, Ravi Shankar added.
