Rubber futures across the region ended mixed and prices remained in a tight range as focus turned to the upcoming wintering season.
A Japanese trader said that after some weakness in prices he expected to see a short term rebound, particularly as the market starts to eye the coming of the wintering season and is wary of what this will mean for supply.
Wintering is a period when rubber trees lose their leaves and latex production drops by up to 75%.
The trader added that rubber stocks in Japan had been decreasing and this was likely to provide some support for rubber futures prices in the Tocom rubber futures exchange.
