India’s Samvardhana Motherson Peguform (SMP) has launched its newest European molding plant, hosting an opening ceremony in Schierling, Germany on Sept. 18.
The plant produces bumpers and is equipped with a robot-aided painting facility. There are more than 400 employees at the site, making it one of the largest employers in the part of Bavaria where it is based.
SMP said: “With optimized energy management and modern waste air regeneration technology, the plant meets the high requirements of the Samvardhana Motherson Group regarding sustainability and efficiency.”
The opening ceremony, which was conducted in Bavarian “Wiesn” style, was attended by more than 400 guests. These included Albert Fueracker (Bavarian state secretary), Christian Kiendl (Mayor of Schierling), Vivek Chaand Sehgal (founder and chairman of the Samvardhana Motherson Group), and Manuel Oetsch (managing director of the new plant).
