Bridgestone Corp.’s Bridgestone APM Co. subsidiary will invest more than $ 5 million to build an automotive seat foam plant in northern New York to supply automakers in both the U.S. and Canada.
Developer Montante Group will spend an estimated $ 6.5 million to build the 65,000-square-foot plant in Wheatfield, N.Y. BAPM will lease the site and spend its own $ 5 million on machinery and equipment. It expects to employ 60 people and begin production in the first quarter of 2017.
“Bridgestone APM is on a very tight timeline to construct our facility and begin production, said Takao Ishibashi, executive vice president for the company’s foam products division.
