The German trade association for plastics packaging converters, IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen, has said that the German plastic packaging industry is confident about the upcoming year.
70% of IK member companies now see the economic situation as good compared to 37% a year ago.
The IK says that this trend is driven by the German economic situation which is seeing record levels of employment and low oil costs boosting consumer buying.
The trade body states that the plastic packaging industry in Germany is seeing a number of opportunities emerging, with a particular push for protective packaging in all sectors.
Despite positive sales forecasts, the IK warns that one third of companies surveyed expect an increase in sales prices at the beginning of 2016 due to volatile raw material prices and high electricity costs in Germany.
The IK currently has over 300 member companies.
