SAO PAULO (AP) — A Brazilian police document obtained by The Associated Press shows that officials are looking at Peruvian President Ollanta Humala and former Argentine Transportation Minister Ricardo Raul Jaime in the probe of a kickback scheme at state-run oil company Petrobras.
The 44-page report dated Feb. 5 says investigators suspect Humala received $ 3 million in bribes from the Odebrecht in exchange for contracts in Peru. The Brazilian construction company is implicated in the scandal
Humala’s press office did not respond to repeated requests for comment. It tweeted that the president had called Brazil’s ambassador in Peru to deny the allegations.
Attempts to find a lawyer representing Jaime were unsuccessful.
Brazilian Judge Sergio Moro is reviewing the document. He’s presiding over the case that has brought down Brazilian politicians and company executives.
