A. Schulman Inc. is adding what’s described as “a major compounding line” at its plant in Givet, France.
The Givet site is focused on white, black and additive masterbatch concentrates and is “the industry’s biggest manufacturing facility of its kind,” officials with Fairlawn, Ohio-based Schulman said in a recent news release. Materials made at the Givet plant are used in packaging, hygiene products, agricultural films and other markets.
Schulman officials recently took part in a French Strategic Attractiveness Council event in Paris. The event “is critical to France’s ability to drive international capital investment,” officials said.
In addition to Givet, Schulman’s French operations include masterbatch concentrates production in Oyonnax, engineering plastic compounds in L’Arbresle and specialty powders in Saint Germain Laval. Schulman employs about 300 in France and has operated in the country for more than 50 years.
“France is indeed an essential location for our manufacturing and commercial activities in Europe,” president and CEO Bernard Rzepka said in the release.
