Linpac Packaging Linpac produces EPS-based products which include fast food boxes, trays and pizza discs.
Fresh food packaging manufacturer Linpac Packaging is set to produce a further 200 million expanded polystyrene (EPS) trays each year after investing 1.2 million pound ($ 1.7 million) in extruder and thermoformer upgrades.
The investment will be at the firm’s St. Helens, England, manufacturing site, which is the company’s main manufacturing site of EPS-based products which include fast food boxes, trays and pizza discs.
Once the upgrading of machinery is complete, St. Helens will have four extrusion lines and 10 thermoformers in operation, supported by three reclaim units.
The overall carbon footprint of the Linpac EPS product range is set to reduce through a 40 percent reduction in average energy consumption.
The investment is the largest to be made by Featherstone, England-based Linpac in the United Kingdom this year and will also create an additional 20 new jobs at the site.
Linpac U.K. operations manager Mick Wood, said: “This major investment demonstrates our commitment to the foodservice market here and overseas.
“We are working towards a major upgrade to our manufacturing capabilities. This will ensure that we can offer our customers both market leading quality and increased capacity to service their needs. This will give us an increased competitive edge in an important market for Linpac.”
