Ply Gem Industries Inc. will invest $ 1.98 million to add vinyl extrusion lines at its window manufacturing operation in the Rocky Mount, Va.
The project will add 76 jobs at the company’s Ply Gem Windows unit, which is the largest employer in Franklin County. Ply Gem, a publicly traded company based in Cary, N.C., is the No. 4 ranked company in Plastics News’ survey of North American pipe, profile and tubing extruders, with estimated relevant sales of $ 900 million.
State and local officials approved a $ 100,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund and $ 160,000 from the Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission to assist with the project and employee training.
“Advanced engineering is an industry of the future, and growing this important sector with expansions like Ply Gem moves us forward in our work to diversify and build a new Virginia economy,” Gov. Terry McAuliffe said in a news release.
Art Steinhafel, president of Ply Gem Windows, said he looks forward to expanding the facility and team in the town.
“The Commonwealth of Virginia, Franklin County and Town of Rocky Mount have done a great deal to make us feel at home and encourage Ply Gem Windows’ growth and success for this strategic location in our supply chain,” Steinhafel said in a news release.
