A trio of sister companies, Graham Packaging Co., Closure Systems International Inc. and Evergreen Packaging Inc., are combining into one consolidated global headquarters in Memphis, Tenn., according to that state’s governor.
Graham Packaging makes plastic containers and Closure Systems makes plastic caps while Evergreen Packaging makes paper-based cartons that can feature plastic spouts and closures.
Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam revealed news of the combination May 6.
“Together, the three companies comprise 127 global manufacturing facilities in 36 countries, 14,000 employees and revenues of approximately $ 5.5 billion annually,” the governor’s office said in a statement. “In order to accommodate the headquarters consolidation in Memphis, the company plans on additional square feet to its current facility.”
Evergreen Packaging is already based in Memphis. Graham Packaging has been based in York, Pa., and Closure Systems has been based in Indianapolis. All three companies are owned by Rank Group Ltd., a private investment firm based in Auckland, New Zealand. They comprise the company’s beverage packaging group within its Reynolds Group Holdings.
Rank also owns food packaging company Pactiv and consumer products companies Hefty, Presto and Reynolds.
The move will bring 70 jobs to Memphis.
“Our leadership team has been impressed by the concerted effort to recruit and support this company throughout this entire process,” Evergreen Packaging CEO John Rooney said in a statement.
