Superior Composites Co. LLC is adding 20,000 square feet of space to expand its production capacity in Vanceburg, Ky., and add to its research and development capabilities.
The company said in a news release that it is investing $ 2.5 million in the project that it expects will be completed by the end of the summer.
“The expansion is part of Superior Composites’ commitment to develop new products and unique applications for composite reinforcements and veils. Our facilities must evolve with the changing needs of our immediate customers and the end use customers for our products,” said Jason Takac, Superior’s chief operating officer in the release.
Takac said that the expansion will boost the size of Superior Composites’ facility to 156,000 square feet and that the company will also add more than 30 jobs. It currently has about 100 employees.
Superior Composites’ glass fiber veils and continuous filament reinforcements are used in many different applications including building materials, transportation components, chemical processing equipment and environmental emissions abatement systems.
The company was formed after Stonewood Capital Management Inc. of Pittsburgh, Pa., purchased the composites division of Superior Fibers LLC in April 2015.
