Pemex’s ethylene production totaled 55,309 mt in April, down 14% from March, the Mexican state company said Tuesday.
In volume terms, Q1’s ethylene output was down 9,230 mt from last month, it said.
Ethylene production fell 64% since December, or 35,239 mt, from 90,548 mt at the end of the fourth quarter of 2015.
Pemex uses the majority of its monomer output for the production of downstream derivatives, including polyethylene grades.
PROPYLENE OUTPUT RISES 8% MONTH ON MONTH
Pemex’s propylene output rose from last month, increasing 8%, or 85 mt, to 1,196 mt, it said. The increase is still well below the December 2015 output which was 25% higher at 1,492 mt.
Pemex uses the majority of its monomer for downstream derivatives, including the production of acrylonitrile.
