San Diego — Schréder Lighting LLC showed a new family of SmartLume fixtures for area lighting and road projects at the LightFair International trade show April 26-28 in San Diego.
A light-emitting-diode SmartLume with its silicone lenses can replace high-intensity-discharge high-pressure-sodium lamps for applications using 50-400 watts.
“SmartLume was developed for, and introduced to the U.S. market, at LightFair 2016,” said Fred Kern, U.S. marketing manager for Schréder in Addison, Ill. “Market response has been exceedingly favorable.”
Parent company Schréder Group GIE of Brussels contracts with optical lighting specialist Gaggione SAS of Montréal-la-Cluse, France, for customized designs and mold building and production of the proprietary lenses.
“Design molds and injection parameters change from time to time, and the components are injected via traditional plastic methods,” Kern said. “Significant time is spent working with [the] tool maker and [molder] to determine the best possible injection outcomes.”
A Schréder-owned factory in China manufactures the high-pressure die-cast aluminum SmartLume bodies and handles final assembly.
In another development, Schréder displayed an updated Shuffle lighting line, which can integrate up to five module options on a single pole.
The options include street, pedestrian, ambient, area or architectural LED lighting, closed-circuit television networking, public address sound system, wireless local area network and alternating-current charging.
The Shuffle’s LED lights incorporate Schréder’s LensoFlex-brand 2 concept. Each LED is associated with a specific lens that generates the complete photometric distribution of the light.
The original configuration entered the market in 2015. Schréder plans a formal launch of the new Shuffle line in September.
