Automotive fluid systems specialist TI Automotive has launched a new fuel tank systems production facility in China.
The 74,000 square-foot facility in Baoding, Hebei province, is dedicated to producing low-emission plastic fuel tank systems for the adjacent Great Wall Motors plant. The products will be used on the customer’s Haval brand of sport-utility and crossover-utility vehicles.
“The Haval line of vehicles is one of the fastest growing brands in China and Great Wall Motors is the largest manufacturer of SUVs and trucks in China,” Hans Dieltjens, executive vice president, Fuel Tank & Delivery Systems, said in a news release. “Our goal is to support this growth through our product expertise in fuel tank and delivery systems technology and through this new facility.”
The Baoding site, which will employ 120 at full capacity, is TI Automotive’s third fuel tank systems manufacturing plant and its 17th facility in China.
TI Automotive is a global leader in the production of plastic fuel tank systems, with award-winning products and processes, including the Tank Advanced Process Technology (TAPT). The TAPT process enables optimized production, variable delivery system placement within the tank shell and optimized packaging. The company also uses the Ship-in-a-Bottle production system to make partial-zero emissions vehicle (PZEV) plastic fuel tanks.
The company employs 25,000 at more than 125 locations in 28 countries.
