Paper Converting Machine Co. will introduce a compact version of its Fusion flexographic printing presses Aug. 3 during Impact 2016 at its headquarters in Green Bay, Wis.
“Across the board, customers face pressures financially and in finding skilled employees,” said Rich Rogals, sales director for PCMC’s printing, coating and lamination products. “It is critical that our designs incorporate technologies that allow repeatable and reliable changeovers, minimized setup and waste of materials and systems efficient in ink management and energy usage.”
The Fusion C is projected to have the capabilities to handle 65-75 percent of film applications that have historically been run using water-, solvent- or UV-based ink.
“Our customers want to have equipment take up the least amount of space possible, but more importantly they want a footprint that allows operator access to the machine without lifts or ladders,” Rogals said. “The design is intended to capture the business currently running on much wider and physically larger equipment and do it more effectively and efficiently.”
With a 42-inch-wide web, the machine “was designed from the ground up using proven technology from larger Fusion models” and some core processes from the PCMC/Aquaflex ELS-Max inline full servo press, said Carl DuCharme, PCMC product and application leader.
The Fusion C can print eight or 10 colors on film, foil or paper at a speed of 1,000 feet per minute. The press utilizes PCMC’s Flextreme-brand heated-air drying system.
PCMC, a maker of converting, packaging and flexographic printing equipment, will feature the Fusion C and a Fusion Board press during Impact 2016, the fourth in its series of industry events with presentations, a mini trade show and an open house. Organizers of Impact 2016 expect to have table-top displays from at least 36 component, material, technology and service vendors and providers.
Dominic Barnes, PCMC sales executive, discussed Impact 2016 and plans to introduce the Fusion C press in remarks during the June 22-23 Western Plastics Association conference in Newport Beach, Calif.
PCMC, a division of St. Louis-based Barry-Wehmiller Cos. Inc., participates in lean events at customer facilities for first-hand experiences and development of solutions.
