Mag-Plastic Machinery Inc. has closed its U.S. office in West Chester, Ohio, near Cincinnati, as blow molding machinery maker Amsler Equipment Inc. continues to handle the business of Mag-Plastics, which stopped building blow molding presses several years ago.
Amsler, based in Richmond Hill, Ontario, has invested in machining equipment to support the Mag-Plastic line.
The Ohio unit of Mag-Plastic changed its name four years ago to AISA Industrial Automation North America. Amsler will continue to act as a liaison between AISA through its subsidiary in Pune, India.
Heidi Amsler, sales and marketing manager, said Amsler Equipment also is building spare parts at its Richmond Hill factory.
In other Mag-Plastic news, Amsler helped a customer in Ontario upgrade the preform loader on its Mag press. The customer was having problems with the old loader, including the fact that no engraving scales were available to record settings for repeated setups. And the original aluminum parts were worn, and the slide was difficult to adjust and only one side could move, making adjustment difficult.
With the new system, the operator uses the roller in the top section to make the initial adjustments as usual, and then can adjust each side of the rails individually if needed. A heavy-duty adjustment mechanism with bushings has been installed at the lower end of the rails. This lower adjustment uses a hand knob, lock nut, and left- and right-hand threaded rod which allows for easy even adjustments on the two sides of the preform slide. Scales were added in all sections to provide repeat ability.
