Goright Plastics, Printing & Logistics LLC has a large contingent of women in management roles.
More than half of upper management are women, according to Kacey Stotesbery, facilities manager/ human resources at the Aurora, Colo., company.
Here’s a look at three other members of the company’s management team.
BETH PALMER
49, Director of fulfillment
She has 10 years of experience of working in sales, customer service and fulfillment.
Her first plastics job was in sales and customer service. She said that she enjoyed working with customers and building new programs. Her interest is in marketing.
Palmer said that she is interested in all the industries that need plastic packaging and that the constant change in packaging styles is one thing about the industry that surprises her.
Her best advice is to “take one day at a time.”
As to anyone considering the plastic industry, she said that it “is very dynamic industry, competitive but rewarding.”
Palmer pointed to the current management team as one that strives to be better and stronger each day.
She relaxes by spending time with her family.
MICHELLE HANS
29, Director of production
Hans said that her first job in plastics was as a customer service representative.
“My interest came after seeing the vast product line and all of the different markets the products serviced. It is a great feeling of accomplishment to see your products all throughout the marketplace,” she said.
Hans said her greatest achievement was building great relationships among all levels of business.
She also points to the packaging industry as what interests her.
As to the plastics industry, she is surprised at “how it continues to thrive even though plastic is touted to be so bad.”
The best advice that she’s received is that if you do not have respect for the people around you, you will never be successful.
That’s also the advice she has for anyone entering the industry — earn the respect of the people around you or you will not be successful.
To relax, she said that she likes to keep up her yard and go camping in the summertime.
VICKIE HANS
53, Director of manufacturing
Vickie Hans started working in the plastic industry part time while in high school and began full time when she graduated. She has been in the industry for 38 years.
Her first job was working as a production worker — one of nine employees — and she said her biggest achievement has been working her way up the ladder from production worker to upper management.
As to the emerging markets, she said that she is fascinated at the beverage market and the constant changes to market those products.
Hans said that she is surprised “that plastics are still thriving given all the efforts to ban different types of plastic products.”
She said that the best advice she has received is to “treat people fairly and everyone will be successful.”
Hans said that the advice that she would give to anyone entering the plastic industry is “the work can be hard but if you stick with it you can achieve anything.”
If she was CEO she said that she would want to know the names of each employee and let them know how important they are to the business.
She said relaxes by gardening.
