PolyAd Services has grown by adding two new production lines at its headquarters site in Earth City, Mo.
The investments are focused on long-term production capacity, productivity and quality, officials said in a news release. They added that the expansion “is one step of an overall progressive strategy to grow PolyAd Services’ capabilities, which includes investments in R&D infrastructure, marketing and pilot-scale facilities.”
“Customers will benefit for years from these investments,” CEO Mike Modak said in the release. “The PolyAd Services team is thinking and acting long-term in order to meet both the immediate and the future needs of customers and end-users.”
Global plastics and chemicals giant BASF SE sold PolyAd in 2014 to Cleveland private equity firm Edgewater Capital Partners LP. Since then, officials said the business has increased sales of specialized, customer-specific formulations to the plastics industry and has introduced two new product lines.
One of those lines is PolyAd Fahrenheit, a family of thermal stabilizers that enable high temperature thermal stability for demanding applications, including under-the-hood automotive uses. The other new line is PolyAd EpochUV, a family of light stabilizers that provide long-term light stability and high levels of color and gloss retention for outdoor products and carpet fibers.
PolyAd supplies additives and formulation services from locations in Earth City and Lampertheim, Germany. The business also offers specialty blends and services. Typical customers include plastics compounders and processors in the automotive, truck, electronics, fiber and wire & cable markets.
PolyAd was founded in 1982 as a unit of Mallinckrodt Chemicals. It then became part of Ciba before becoming part of BASF.
