Hamburg, Germany — Weber & Schaer GmbH & Co. KG is acquiring a majority stake in distributor Polymer Service PSG GmbH to advance its position in thermoplastics.
The takeover will be completed in two stages by the end of 2018, W&S noted in its acquisition announcement, a European distributor of natural rubber, synthetic rubber, rubber chemicals and adhesive raw materials.
Polymer-Service PSG, founded in Hamburg in 1989 specializes in the distribution of TPE, polyamides, polysulphones, colors and additives to the European market.
Established back in 1844, W&S supplies Chemigum (NBR) and Sunigum (ASA), TPV and CPE materials to processors of thermoplastic raw materials. Its operations include a technical support lab staffed by five technicians.
W&S subsidiary Braun Battenberg Mahlwerke GmbH specializes in the milling of rubber, aramide fibers, raw materials for gaskets and pulverization of thermoset plastics.
“Polymer-Service supplies already numerous raw materials to producers of specialized compounds. We will complete the portfolio with our products like materials for the tribological modification of thermoplastics.” said Jorg Braun, managing director of BBM.
Andreas Hohn, managing director and founder of Polymer-Service PSG, added that the takeover would enable the company to offer “more high performance products and services to our long term customers.”
