Akron, Ohio — Signet Enterprises LLC is expanding its reach in the business of infrastructure service applications with the creation of Creative Polymer Solutions (CPS) in Irondale, Ala.
The Akron-based investment and development firm announced the creation of CPS in a recent news release. CPS specializes in polymer technology for protective and structural coatings for municipal, industrial and commercial sectors, the release said. CPS, which employs eight and plans to add three more workers by the end of 2017, is located in a polymer blending facility it shares with Signet’s Sprayroq Inc.
CPS will focus on the development and blending of polyurethane and polyurea products that prevent corrosion and rehabilitate heavily corroded surfaces, primarily concrete and metal.
“We are extremely excited about the formation of CPS, and its ability to support Sprayroq and other independent coating firms and manufacturing facilities located throughout the Southeast,” said Anthony Manna, Signet founder and chairman, in a statement. “One of Signet’s principal business philosophies is to promote creativity within each portfolio company, and to encourage a total solution approach to customer satisfaction. It’s well known that the economy suffers from the effects of infrastructure corrosion, so we anticipate that with the advent of CPS, we will be able to increase our reach in becoming part of the total solution to that significant problem.”
Signet acquired Sprayroq, which develops and makes polyurethanes for the rehabilitation and protection of underground infrastructure, in 2001 and has expanded the firm’s North American footprint and expanded its reach to international markets, said Mark Corr, Signet’s president and COO, in the release.
“This is an opportune time to improve our control over the manufacturing process,” he said in a statement. “As a result of forming CPS and adding engineering, chemistry and manufacturing resources, we will be in a better position to serve our customers’ needs by creating formulations that encounter unique environmental conditions. We take pride in supporting innovation and new product development throughout the organization. The formation of CPS will greatly enhance our ability to follow through on this strategy.”
Jerry Gordon, president of CPS, sees much potential in the international markets for infrastructure service applications.
“We saw an opportunity to spread our wings and grow as a company, and to offer unique solutions to customers regionally, and globally,” he said in a statement.
