Engel Holding GmbH reports that two of its second-year apprentices were winners in the 2016 apprentice competition held by the Upper Austria Economic Chamber.
Julian Oberhayr proved to be the best design engineer, Florian Wölfl took third place in mechanical engineering technicians.
Engel, based in Schwertberg, Austria, was represented by 37 apprentices. Almost half of them were awarded the mark of “very good.”
In the industry category, a total of 835 young men and women apprentices faced the scrutiny of the panel of experts.
”Once again, the success of our apprentices confirms the quality of our training concept,” said Johannes Höflinger. In Austria, Engel admits 45 to 50 apprentices into its program each year, training them in mechatronics, plastics technology, material engineering, design, metalworking technology, operating logistics and information technology.
“The two best apprentices in each class have the privilege of traveling to Asia and working for three months either in the Engel plant in Shanghai or in Korea,” Höflinger said.
Engel also runs training centers in Germany art its automation plant in Hagen, at its machinery assembly plant in Shanghai, and at its component plant in Kaplice in the Czech Republic.
