Ventra Plastics, a subsidiary of automotive supplier Flex-N-Gate Corp., added 25 new paint robots to improve efficiency at its Peterborough, Ontario, plant.
Ventra received just over C$ 550,000 (US$ 419,000) from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund to support the project, according to a news release from Ontario’s Ministry of Economic Development and Growth. The fund covers up to 15 percent of the cost of projects pursuing innovation and new markets. The Ventra expansion is valued at more than $ 5.5 million.
The company also added 10 positions to its existing 288.
The site manufactures car components including bumpers and wheel covers for distribution throughout Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
Flex-N-Gate, is based in Urbana, Ill. Its Ventra unit is a plastic bumper fascia specialist, supplying automakers including General Motors, Toyota, Ford and Chrysler.
